Fuerteventura is outstanding for its magnificent white sand beaches and for the bright sun that shines all year round. It is one of the Canary Islands and an essential destination both for windsurfers and scuba divers who will find unforgettable spots. Fuerteventura measures 210 kilometres from one end to the other and there are more than 150 beaches in the north and south of the island, spread over 340 kilometres of coastline. Meanwhile, on the east coast you will find cliffs and small, hidden coves. Their shallow, crystal clear waters are ideal for watersports: sailing, water skiing, surfing, fishing. But windsurfing and scuba diving stand out.

Fuerteventura now has an important place on the windsurfing World Cup circuit. There is a long list of beaches where you can practise this sport: Corralejo, Cotillo, Jandía, Caleta de Fuste, Cofete...

The same goes for scuba diving. Fuerteventura is an ideal destination for diving fans, thanks to the crevices, caves, tunnels, overhangs and rock formations to be found on its ocean beds.
Its excellent climate, sandy beaches with dunes, stunning natural beauty and modern infrastructure make Fuerteventura a privileged destination for tourists.

A good way to get to know the island's most hidden spots is to explore the tracks and trails that will lead you to areas of unspoilt countryside. This is the case of Tindaya Mountain and the Betancuria Nature Reserve, the island's largest area of protected countryside.

Fuerteventura airport is five kilometres from Puerto del Rosario, with services by airlines from many different countries. The island also has scheduled boat and ferry services to the rest of the archipelago, departing from Puerto del Rosario, La Oliva and Pájara.

Tuineje village contains some places of interest, outstanding among which is the church of San Marcos, built in the 18th century. There are other villages in the district, such as Tiscamanita, with its hermitage of San Marcos Evangelista (18th century); Gran Tarajal, famous for its lively marina; Giniginámar and Las Playitas, both with a seaside atmosphere. In all of them you will find plentiful examples of Canary Islands popular architecture. The district possesses an extensive coastline dotted with quiet beaches of fine volcanic sand. We could mention Tarajalejo, Las Playitas Gran Tarajal and Giniginámar, equipped with all kinds of tourist facilities.
A tour of the surrounding area will take us to picturesque villages, such as Antigua, Pájara and Betancuria. This last one is, without a doubt, the most beautiful on the island. Its appearance has not changed at all since it was founded in the early 15th century. It is worth visiting the church of Santa María and the Archaeological Museum.

Puerto del Rosario

Washed by the crystal-clear blue waters of the Atlantic, Puerto del Rosario is a lively commercial city full of attractions for tourists. Sheltering behind the major port, the capital of Fuerteventura grew as a neat collection of houses of whitewashed streets turned towards a picturesque promenade. And alongside it, villages full of local colour and a beautiful coastline equipped with modern facilities and ideal for windsurfing.

La Oliva and Corralejo

Corralejo is a town situated in the northernmost part of the island of Fuerteventura, in the municipality of La Oliva. Surrounded by an unusual landscape of dunes, the town combines the traditional seafaring flavour of its port with interesting tourist activity.
One of the main attractions for tourists in Corralejo is its extensive coastline of heavenly beaches of fine golden sand beside a sea of turquoise waters. Thanks to the excellent infrastructure, you can do water sports such as scuba diving, windsurfing or water skiing. The backdrop for these stretches of sand are the imposing dunes which form part of the Corralejo Nature Reserve. The apparent dryness of the landscape constrasts with the numerous native species of plant life which grow about the place.
Excursions are organized from the port to Lanzarote and the nearby volcanic island of Lobos. The latter, which sits facing the coastline of Corralejo, has been declared a nature reserve because of its valuable habitat, where indigenous species of flowers grow.
Moving inland, the historic quarter of La Oliva has the Casa de los Coroneles (Colonels' House), a beautiful example of noble architecture and one of the most important monuments on the island.
